Introduction
The National Empowerment Fund (NEF) requires the services of a highly capable and motivated senior Graphic Designer and Multimedia Specialist who is conceptually strong and demonstrates outstanding creative skills with astute knowledge of the latest trends in graphic design, digital art, visual styles, design technology, the social media spectrum as well as its efficacy and applicability. The incumbent must be able to produce and design original and compelling concepts and designs, proactively. The incumbent must also be able to design, develop and produce persuasive and appealing creative collateral across all mass media formats inclusive of print, radio, outdoor, televisual and online platforms, utilising a solid knowledge of the digital, broadcast and print production processes. While the incumbent will be required to work as an active team player on projects, they must demonstrate the ability to conceptualise creative collateral independently to complement and communicate the stature and value proposition of an esteemed national DFI.

Outputs

• Meeting the relevant internal clients to discuss business and/or objectives and requirements of the required projects,
• Interpreting the required business needs and developing a concept to suit their purpose,
• Thinking creatively and independently to proactively develop new creative concepts for adverts, banners, publications, brochures, intranet, website and other products across the branding spectrum of the NEF,
• Estimating the time required to complete the work and providing delivery timelines for the Marketing and Communications team,
• Developing design briefs by gathering information and data through interaction with teams,
• Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to the department and internal clients,
• Working with a wide range of media and demonstrating the willingness to develop critical competencies including copywriting, photography, radio, television, digital production and web design,
• Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work,
• Contributing ideas and design artwork for the overall brief,
• Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches,
• Working on layouts and artwork pages ready for print,
• Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design, applications such as InDesign, QuarkXPress, FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver, Flash etc.
• Developing interactive designs and audio-visual productions as well as screensavers,
• Commissioning illustrators and photographers where the scope requires outsourcing those services,
• Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, web developers and marketing specialists,
• Manage, update and monitor NEF Social Media platforms,
• Oversee audio-visual productions.
• Produce Standard Operating Procedures for design and publishing processes and protocols.
• Develop a failsafe archival and retrieval system.
• Produce award-winning designs.


Minimum requirements

Qualifications

• A recognised Bachelors’ tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Advertising and / or Multimedia production.

Experience/Skills Required

• Advertising agency experience is essential.
• Above The Line (ATL) and Below The Line (BTL) experience is an imperative.
• Relevant formal tertiary design qualification is critical.
• A strong design portfolio that demonstrates competency and creativity is essential.
• Minimum of five years’ experience is required.
• Creative ability and portfolio of published work.
• Technically competent in usage of design software and hardware.
• Knowledge of production processes and dynamics.
• Digital track record.
• Hardworking and administratively organised.
• Passionate, proactive and responsible.
• A self-motivated team player who respects the time and values quality.
