Introduction

The position involves assisting the CEO and executive team with the execution of strategic projects, including planning, resource allocation and progress tracking. Responsibilities also include preparing schedules, delegating tasks to ensure timely completion of initiatives and compiling reports for the executive review.
Job description
Office Management and Statutory reporting
- Uphold the professionalism and positive image of the Office of the CEO.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, including standing in during key meetings, gathering insights and feedback for quick decision-making.
- Provide oversight on all policies and documents submitted to the CEO’s office ensuring quality and alignment before approval.
- Represent the CEO’s office in organisational forums and relevant committees.
- Manage and coordinate the formal submission of documents to the Executive Authority in line with legislative requirements (PFMA etc.) ensuring timely delivery e.g., strategic business plans, budgets and quarterly reports.
- Handle administrative tasks related to work programs, projects, and research as directed by the CEO.
Project Management, Strategic and Executive support
- Contribute actively to the conceptualisation and development of the National Empowerment Fund’s (NEF) business strategy.
- Deliver strategic advisory support and high-level administrative assistance to the CEO, ensuring alignment with national government priorities and strategic objectives.
- Support the CEO in effectively communicating and translating the operational strategy into actionable plans for the NEF.
- Assist in planning and executing CEO initiatives including the preparation of presentations for key strategic engagements and strategic platforms requiring the CEO's involvement.
- Serve as a strategic partner in overseeing the entity’s operations and performance, working closely with stakeholders on behalf of the CEO.
- Promote knowledge-sharing and best practices through the Development Finance industry collaboration and industry leaders to adopt and promote best practices.
- Ensure compliance with governance, risk management standards and regulatory requirements within the Office of the CEO.

- Ensure adherence to procurement regulations and procedures.
People management and development
- Oversee the performance of the CEO’s direct reports and office team, ensuring alignment with individual performance agreements.
- Management of staff within the CEO’s office.
- Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear guidance to ensure business objectives are met.
- Design and implement succession plans for key roles and critical positions within the organisation.
- Promote a high-performance culture through proactive performance management and risk identification.
- Support the creation of an optimal working environment for strategy execution to drive effectiveness in fulfilling the NEF’s mandate.
- Promote a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, continuous improvement and results-driven performance across the NEF.
- Support the CEO in managing risks and resolving staff-related issues promptly.
- Lead the management of strategic projects, ensuring successful execution and alignment with organisational priorities.
Minimum requirements
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics or similar field
- Post graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience / Skills Required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an executive office management environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a Middle Management position
- Experience in Development Finance or Financial Services is advantageous
- Understanding of the NEF Act
- Strong understanding of protocol matters with regards to government, parliament and other key stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Proven record in managing people as well as projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative management style
- Excellent project management skills including project implementation
